Contraception Guide, Contraception Information Sheets, and Postpartum Contraception Guide ★

A best practice for shared decision-making is to use a decision aid with patients during the counseling interaction. The below contraception decision aid “Contraception (Birth Control) Guide” is designed to support the exploration of patients’ values and preferences and center patients. Another decision aid has been developed for the postpartum period. To accompany the decision aid, a set of 17 method information sheets were developed to support patient education.

These materials were developed using an exploratory sequential mix-methods study that centered users during each stage of data collection and design refinement. Publications are in development. These materials were presented at PICCK’s Third Annual Meeting on September 17, 2022 and at the webinar “Tools for Patient-Centered Contraceptive Counseling” on September 29, 2022.
